About Our Church

Grace Fellowship is a Bible believing, non-denominational, Christian church, which was birthed out of the “Charismatic Renewal” of the 1970’s.  It began as a group of spiritually hungry people meeting in homes in the mid 70’s.  When it became obvious that God was raising up a church, the group began holding Sunday services.           The new work officially organized in January of 1980.  thirty-five people attended the first service held at the historic First Baptist Church building on the corner of 4th Avenue & 22nd Street, which would be the church’s home for most of its first five years of ministry in Kearney.           Incorporated in June of 1980 as Kearney Christian Outreach Center, the church was founded upon the foundation of.. 1. The Integrity of God’s Word… 2. The Lordship of Jesus Christ, and… 3. The dynamic present day Ministry of the Holy Spirit.           In 1984 the church purchased ten acres of land in northwest Kearney and began construction on a new building.  The congregation moved into its new church home in the spring of 1985.           In 1991 the church became known as “Grace Fellowship”, and since then has continued to grow and develop with the ongoing vision to fulfill it’s calling as a Spirit-filled, New Testament Church to Kearney and the Central Nebraska area.

Statement of Beliefs

The Bible– We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God The Trinity-We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ-We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His Bodily resurrection, in His personal return to power and glory. Redemption-We believe that man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression he fell.  Mankind’s only means of being cleansed from sin is through faith in the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Salvation by Grace-We believe that we are saved by grace (God’s undeserved & unearned favor) through faith and not by man’s own works. Holy Spirit-We believe that Christ lives in every true believer, through the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling Christians are enabled to live a godly life. Baptism of the Holy Spirit-We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4, that it’s been provided to empower the church to communicate the gospel to the world.  We believe that the New Testament gifts, ministries and manifestations of the Holy Spirit have been given to the church and are experienced where they are received. Communion-We believe that the celebration of the Lord’s supper is a remembrance of Jesus and His redemptive sacrifice for mankind. Blessed Hope-We believe Jesus is coming again to gather all His saints to Heaven. Resurrection of the Dead-We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost.  The saved to everlasting Life in Heaven.  The lost to everlasting damnation in Hell.
